Teen Wolf's Holland Roden Speaks Up For Homeless Dogs

Teen Wolf star Holland Roden is used to working with furry, four-legged costars — but that’s no werewolf in her new video for peta2, PETA’s youth division: It’s her adopted dog, Fievel! In the video, which debuted on peta2.com hot on the heels of Teen Wolf’s season premiere, Roden opens up about how Fievel joined her family, the importance of spaying and neutering, and more. “Once we started season two of Teen Wolf… I started looking for my Fievel,” she explains. “She’s a force to be reckoned with, and I love her every day. It’s such an incredible joy. It completely changes your life—having a dog—in the best of ways.” Roden is quick to point out the bigger picture, too. “It’s something like 4 million [homeless dogs and cats] are euthanized every year, which I believe is about half of the amount of dogs and cats in shelters,” she says. “If you look at those statistics and you look at those stories, you don’t think twice about spaying or neutering your dog.” Spaying and neutering doesn’t just help fight the companion animal overpopulation crisis. Sterilized animals live longer and happier lives, are less likely to develop cancer of the reproductive system, and, in the case of neutered males, are less likely to roam or fight.
