Create awareness about environment through media

Presenting the fifth CMS Vatavaran Indian and International Awards here last night, Mr Bhatt said, ”Mass media can play a bigger role in creating awareness about the environmental issues among people.” However, Mr Bhatt expressed satisfaction that today’s youth are more aware about the environmental changes.
”Today, youngsters have answers for environment change and they are more aware about it than expected. Awareness about the issues of environment change among youngsters is a good sign for future,” he said.
The theme of the film festival is climate change and sustainable technologies. Eminent Assamese director Jahnu Barua also gave away awards along with Mr Bhatt to the winners during the awards ceremony.
TERI’s film ‘Reviving Faith’, directed by Rishu Nigam won the best film award under the Natural Heritage Conservation category.
The film raises a critical question – Can the modern world restore the faith that conserved nature, before it gets too late? Best of the Festival Award under International category went to ‘The Soul of Water’ (Vattnets Sjal), directed by Kurt Skoog. While Best of the Festival Award under Indian category went to ‘Deeply Superficial’, directed by Veneet Raj Bagga. Delhi Chief Minister’s Environmental Conservation Award went to ‘Goa Goa Gone’, directed by Kurush Canteenwala.
