India eyes financial support from developed nations

India is concentrating its efforts on ensuring that rich industrialized countries provide predictable and adequate finance and technology to developing countries to tackle climate change. New Delhi says that money pledged by rich industrialized countries to the Green Climate Fund is inadequate. New Delhi stressed that without adequate financial support it would be difficult for developing countries to make ambitious plans to tackle climate change. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, who is in Cairo attending the African Ministerial on Environment, said that issues of finance and technology to help developing countries need to be sorted out before the year end negotiations if the Paris talks are to proceed smoothly.
