Omega School Represents India at UN Human Rights Conference
by The Daily Eye Team March 12 2014, 2:39 pm Estimated Reading Time: 0 mins, 40 secsFifty two Class 11 students of Lalaji Memorial Omega International School, Kolapakkam, participated in a human rights video conference on March 3.
Omega was the only school in India invited to take part in ‘Empowering Youth for Peace and Sustainable Development’, a United Nations VC that took place through the night (in New York it was daytime!). The students connected with schools from Mexico, the Philippines, USA, Canada, Kuwait, and Democratic Republic of Congo, to debate an action plan global in scope but local in action.
For a month they researched for five sub-themes — ‘being global citizens in a multi-cultural world’, ‘sustaining development through environmental responsibility’, ‘education for all’, ‘attainable food security’ and ‘human rights and sustainable development’.
