Overcoming Culture: Can India Eliminate Gender Violence?

It has been noted by several sources just how ambitious the Sustainable Development Goals are when compared to the previous Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). There has been an increase from eight Millennium Development Goals to an incredible seventeen Sustainable Development Goals. With so many goals it is a wonder how countries will be able to meet the set targets, especially if they have ongoing problems with some of the new goals. India in particular is facing an epidemic of sexual violence against women that laws cannot seem to overcome. With an issue as daunting as that, how can India ever hope to achieve the fifth Sustainable Development Goal, gender equality?
