That’s why outgoing Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick is absolutely correct when she says the battle against the scourge of domestic violence must be fought in the boardrooms and classrooms of the country. It cannot simply be left to our courtrooms.
While reflecting on her eight years as the nation’s primary advocate for gender equality, Ms Broderick told me about a woman she met at a domestic violence shelter.
