Tata Power Delhi Distribution wins ‘Innovation for India Awards – 2014

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) has won the ‘Innovation for India Awards 2014’, under Business Category, for developing tamper evident and defraud electricity meter. The award was presented by Ranjan Kapur, former chairman, Ogilvy & Mather, to Subrata Das, additional GM, Corporate Enforcement Group, TPDDL, on March 25, 2014, at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, Mumbai. This was the fifth edition of the awards, organized by the Marico Innovation Foundation. The foundation recognizes innovation in the field of business, social and public service in India. The award was a result of rigorous evaluation process followed by Marico’s knowledge partner – Bain & Company and a distinguished jury chaired by Dr RA Mashelkar.

A total of 258 entries (in the Business category) were scrutinised in two rounds and arrived at ‘India’s Best Innovations’ on the basis of uniqueness, impact and sustainability. The jury for the Business category included Dr RA Mashelkar, chairman, Marico Innovation Foundation & National Research Professor, NCL; Sam Balsara, founder, Madison Advertising; Ravi Venkatesan, member, governing council, Marico Innovation Foundation and independent director, Infosys ; Dr Makarand Phadke, senior vice president, innovations, Reliance Innovation Leadership Centre, Reliance Industries Ltd; Dr Ajit Ranade, senior president and economist, Aditya Birla Group; Professor Dr Uday Salunkhe, group director, Welingkar School; G Sunderraman, executive VP, corporate development, Godrej & Boyce Mfg Ltd; Dr Vinay Vaidya, chief technology officer, KPIT Technologies Ltd; Dr GD Yadav, vice chancellor, Institute of Chemical Technology.
