They say, educate a woman, and you educate an entire family. This is a tale of 20 women leaders who not only took the onus of educating themselves and their family but also empowered their respective villages. With an impetus from Vodafone Foundation’s Red Rickshaw Revolution, they find their long harboured dreams being fulfilled. What began with some struggle, now stands strong, thanks to their sheer courage and endurance. These 20 ordinary women are now being celebrated by Red Rickshaw for thinking big and fighting the tides of social apprehensions. One among them is Nazira Khurshid who is the Sarpanch of Pohri village in Madhya Pradesh. She wished to learn computers and help the local community in solving administrative problems. While helping people get access to pension schemes and ration cards, she also empowers people with information on the opportunities that are available to them. With a supporting hand from Red Rickshaw, through the Digital Community Information Resource Centre #dCIRCs, she is able to apply her skills and learning to impart digital knowledge to the people of Pohri.
