The final between Japan and the U.S. at the Women’s World Cup on Sunday was the most-watched soccer event in American television history. Drawing 25.4 million viewers, it beat out the NBA Finals—with 13.9 million—or the Stanley Cup—with 7.6 million. The program broke the record from the U.S.-Portugal match during the 2014 World Cup, which drew 18.2 million.
