Despite the Naxal threat, an overall 75.53% scream the resolve of locals to be part of the democratic process.

Women voters outshone men in exercising franchise; 75.8% turned out to vote as compared to 75.5% by their male counterparts. The corresponding figures during last assembly poll were 65.5% turnout by female voters and 68.94% by male electorate.

Naxalites had called a poll boycott ahead of elections and intelligence inputs warned of their plans to stage landmine attacks and ambush strikes to terrorize potential voters. However, even in the worst-hit constituencies of Bijapur and Konta, the turnout was higher than 2008 polls.
