Cosmic Heart Gallery Presents: The Great Indian Modern Masters
As Cosmic Heart Gallery embarks on its 13th year of artistic evolution, it is proud to present The Great Indian Modern Masters, an exhibition that pays tribute to the timeless genius of India’s most influential modern artists. This celebration honours four pioneering figures of the Progressive Art Movement—artists who redefined Indian modern art and left an indelible mark on the global artistic landscape.
“In curating this prestigious exhibition, I am reminded of how these luminaries form the bedrock of our artistic universe. Just as the Earth would be adrift without gravity, the world of art would be incomplete without their guiding brilliance," says Jalpa H. Vithalani, Founder of Cosmic Heart Gallery.
The Masters and Their Legacy
Through watercolour, pencil, pen, and ink on paper, the artistic genius of these visionaries unfolds:
- M. F. Husain – His bold narratives reflect a deep engagement with India’s cultural heritage, capturing its dynamism and spirit.
- F. N. Souza – His unflinching exploration of unfiltered forms challenges artistic conventions and pushes boundaries.
- V. S. Gaitonde – His meditative, minimalistic abstract compositions distil art to its purest essence, creating a contemplative experience.
- S. H. Raza – His vibrant works bridge Indian philosophy with universal expression, bringing traditional iconography into modern interpretations.
Together, these legendary artists form the foundation of India’s modern artistic identity, inspiring generations of artists and art enthusiasts worldwide.
A Tribute in Gold and Ruby
As a tribute to these great masters, Dr. Udayraj Gadnis, Founder of The Spiritual Art Movement, has created a stunning 6-foot sun using 24-carat gold and crushed ruby paste. This symbolic masterpiece serves as a homage to the enduring artistic legacy of these visionaries.
“Who cares about the agony and ecstasies of being an artist? Our Masters are long gone, but their art still burns bright in the Cosmic Heart Gallery and in the Cosmic Art World,” reflects Prof. Dr. Udayraj Gadnis, PhD.
