A celebrity, be it an actor or a sportsperson, is a role model for many youngsters. Celebrities earn obscene amounts of money for doing mainstream Bollywood films as well as for endorsing various brands, which, in all probability, they don't even use themselves in reality. Even though Bollywood actors have promoted sexist and racist ads in the past(fairness cream ads, etc.), there have been actors who have rejected such endorsement offers on ethical grounds.

1) KanganaRanaut: Kangana has gone on record and spoken about rejecting several brands because they don't go with her brand of politics. She even rejected a Rs 2 crore deal from a fairness product brand. Adhering to Abhay Deol's stance on fairness products, she said, "Women should not be subjected to this discrimination. They're just stripped off their confidence and self-worth by such creams. I oppose it and I'm very ashamed that many celebs support it and endorse it."

2) Aamir Khan: Aamir, Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist has carefully built his image as the socially aware and conscious star for almost two decades now. He rejected a deal to endorse a luxury car brand because he wants to do only socially relevant ads.

3) Amitabh Bachchan: Big B is often seen endorsing a variety of things - from air conditioners to tourism. But, he stopped endorsing fizzy, caffeinated drinks because a young fan pointed out how these are deemed unfit for consumption. He even rejected an advertisement because he felt it was endorsing dowry.

4) Kareena Kapoor Khan: Kareena may not regret endorsing fairness products in the past. She endorses a lot of products ranging from tea to beauty products, mobile phones to jewellery brands. But, after becoming a vegetarian and being voted one of the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities back in 2008, Kareena turned down an offer to promote a chicken brand.

5) RandeepHooda: RandeepHooda has quite vocally condemned our colonial hangover and obsession with fair skin in the past. He refuses to endorse fairness products on these grounds.

6) Ranbir Kapoor: Everyone's favourite Ranbir Kapoor has turned down several offers for endorsing fairness creams as he understands that such products only promulgate harmful, racist stereotypes further.

7) Anushka Sharma: Anushka also made her stance clear on endorsing certain products. At an event, she said,"I would not endorse products that propagate racist and sexiest (beliefs) and propagate social taboo. I don't want to endorse products that propagate fair skin and all. I will not propagate anything that says this is right or wrong,".

8) John Abraham: John, an honest actor and a fitness freak refused to trick his fans into believing that he supports unhealthy products. Being a fitness enthusiast, he refused to endorse tobacco and alcohol-related products.

9) Akshay Kumar: Akshay Kumar has the image of someone who is passionate about fitness and health. He has turned down a lucrative deal to promote a paan masala brand because of his personal convictions.

10) Virat Kohli: Currently, Kohli is probably the most active Indian cricketer in the advertisement-sphere. But, he recently broke off his ties with Pepsi, stating that he wouldn't endorse products he doesn't personally use anymore.
