A recent report revealed that every second child in India is malnourished, 79% children across the country are anaemic whereas the child sex ratio is at the lowest point ever, that is 914 girls for every 1000 boys. A report released by Child Rights and You (CRY) also dwells on the pitiful state of children in the country.

The report also points out that the national dropout rate on the elementary level is 40% inspite of right to education.

The report further highlights other problems —11.8% of children in India are involved in some kind of child labour, alarmingly, 45% girls get married before the age of 18 years even now.

On account of Children’s Day, CRY launched a nationwide campaign called “Vote for Child Rights” campaign. It also got covers off the Child Rights Manifesto which calls for all of the political parties and voters to assign top priority to children with a view to improve their plight.
