Climate Change: Frequency, strength of tornadoes rising, thanks to global warming
by The Daily Eye Team August 11 2014, 8:14 am Estimated Reading Time: 0 mins, 42 secsThe global warming and unabated pollution is contributing to climatic imbalances on the Earth. Despite severe awareness programs, global pacts and international call for combating the menace, the pollution levels continue to mount day-by day. Almost every natural disaster including drought and floods are directly or indirectly linked to the rising temperatures and pollution levels. A new entry to this list of natural phenomenon occurrence due to climate change is tornadoes.
According to a new study, the climatic imbalances are resulting into more tornadoes. Lead researcher James Elsner said, “We may be less threatened by tornadoes on a day-to-day basis but when they do come, they come like there’s no tomorrow.” The researchers who carried the study found a key role of climate changes in the strength and frequency of tornadoes in the US.
