Under climate change modelling, scientists predict polar waters will absorb greater concentrations of carbon dioxide than warmer waters, creating more acidic conditions.
Dr Donna Roberts from the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystem Research Centre says a team of scientists is preparing to create those conditions in waters off Casey station, using specially designed underwater chambers.
