The Lion Queens of India tells the story of an all-women animal rescue team working in Gir National Park, which is the last known habitat for Asiatic Lions in the world.
In 2007, the Gujarat government opened new job opportunities for women in the forest department. Instead of taking office positions, several women opted for field jobs as animal rescue foresters, dedicating their lives to looking after the lions, leopards and other wildlife that inhabit the forest.
