“Karwaan was a film that needed just the right canvas to come alive.” - Priti Rathi Gupta, Producer

The trailer of Karwaan, a slice-of-life drama-comedy produced by Priti Rathi Gupta and Ronnie Screwvala, starring Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salman and Mithila Palkar, was released yesterday, and has been well received across the Bollywood fraternity. Thanks to its unique storyline and a refreshing cast and location, it has created a buzz among audience and critics alike.

The story follows three individuals and how they connect on an unexpected, story.  With a quirky, humorous yet warm undertone to the dialogue and interaction between characters, the film has been shot in picturesque locations across Kerala and is described as ‘the journey of a lifetime’.

Karwaan holds a very special place in my heart, and is exactly the kind of movie that Ishka is committed to producing,” says Priti Rathi Gupta, Producer of Ishka Films, which is releasing Karwaan. “The script, written by my good friend Bejoy Nambiar, was one that needed just the right canvas for it to come alive. Fortunately, Ronnie and RSVP came on board, and loved the script just as much as I did. I’ve had the good fortune to collaborate with an absolutely wonderful set of people for Karwaan.

“Irrfan has worked with such spontaneity – he is such a delight to watch and is an extremely grounded human being; Dulquer has surprised us all with his craft and his fluency in the language and is all set to take Bollywood by storm; and Mithila, who is making her debut as a Bollywood lead actress is absolutely charming, as always. I’m very proud of the work Akarsh, along with the entire cast and crew, has done. The movie is a true ‘slice-of-life’ film shot in Kochi, at a time when the monsoons made everything look magical, and obviously, all of that magic has seeped in into the frames of the movie! The story will tickle your funny bone and drive home a message we can all identify with. I am absolutely certain that the audience will enjoy watching Karwaan as much as we have enjoyed making it”, says an excited Priti.

A woman of multi-fold talents and passions, Priti’s passion for storytelling and filmmaking enabled her to start-up her own film production venture called Ishka Films in 2013. Driven by the desire to produce and endorse intelligent film-making that is emotionally and intellectually stimulating, Priti Rathi Gupta puts her belief in content that she believes will stand the test of time and appeal to a variety of audiences. Her first film, Waiting, launched in 2015 starring Nareeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin was hugely appreciated. Her next project, Karwaan, starring Irrfan Khan, Mithila Palkar and Dulquer Salmaan, is set to be released in August this year.

Here’s, wishing Priti and her Karwaan team the best for their ride to success.
